How can I become a tutor?

  • You are 18+ years old
  • You speak English clearly
  • You have good reading and writing skills
  • You have 2-4 hours per week to tutor (including prep time)
  • You are willing to prepare lessons and submit reports

Complete Tutor Training:

  • Take our online Tutor Training course
  • Sign our volunteer agreements
  • Get fingerprinted (at no cost)
Who we are

Hayward Public Library's Education Services Department

Hayward Public Library’s Education Services Department has served the Hayward community since 1985. We work together with California Library Literacy Services (CLLS), Hayward Unified School District, Hayward Universities, and many others. We provide services to support Hayward families and adults.
